Karolis has graduated from Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania) in 2017, gaining a bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry. Soon after, he received a postgraduate fellowship from the Irish Research Council and joined Prof. Mathias O. Senge's group in Ireland to continue his research as a Ph.D. student in the utilization of nonplanar porphyrins for sensing, colorimetry, crystal engineering, and investigating atropisomerism in supramolecular chemistry. Karolis was a contributor to the EU-wide H2020 FET-Open project "INITIO", which aimed to detect and remove chiral pollutants from enivironment. In the beginning of 2022, Karolis joined the Université libre de Bruxelles, EMNS group as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr Hennie Valkenier. Here he is involved in the ORGANITRA project where he will be working on design and synthesis of supramolecular transporter systems of biologically important phosphates.
